Platform-native familiarity

A format we already know how to read lowers our guard.

01 What it is

People already know how to read a question box, a group chat or a tier list. The visual language is familiar, so the creative needs less explaining.

That familiarity reduces the mental effort needed to understand it and helps the ad feel natural inside a social feed.

Borrowing a format is the easy part. The format only carries the creative, so the message inside it still has to earn its place.

02 How to spot it

A creative that looks like something people already use: an Instagram question box, a group chat screenshot, a tier list, a recruitment poster.

03 What it leans on

Our working term. Related to the familiarity and mere-exposure research (Zajonc, 1968).
